Object:
To prepare and submit turpentine liniment (10ml).

Formula:
Ingredients Quantity given
Turpentine oil. ------- 650ml
Soft soap. -------- 90gm
Camphor. -------- 50gm
Purified water. ------- q.s. 1000ml
Theory:
Turpentine oil is volatile oil and doesn't contain any free fatty acid. Therefore it cannot form soap with alkaline nature substances and also it is immiscible in water. But camphor is soluble in turpentine oil therefore soft soap is used to form oil in water emulsion of camphorated turpentine oil.
Procedure: (for 10ml)
- Firstly dissolve 500mg camphor in 6.5 ml of turpentine oil.
- Then in another breaker mix 900mg soft soap with 100ml of purified water.
- Then add that camphor solution to this soap solution gradually trituration in mortal pestle until a thik creamy emulsion is formed.
- And at last add sufficient water to produce final required volume.
- After that fill the preparation into suitable container.
Use:
It is used by the patients suffering from arthralgia (joints pain), myalgia, and sprian.
Storage:
Store in closely tight, narrow mouth bottle, with plastic screw cap. Keep in cool place.
Important labeling:
- FOR EXTERNAL USE ONLY.
- Shake well before use.
- NOT To be applied over BROKEN skin.
